Southeast Asian Studies is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

This Southeast Asian Studies (SEAS) website is managed by the Editorial Committee of Southeast Asian Studies. This site can be used in accordance with the site policy guidelines below.


All content on this site (documents, photos, maps, data and other resources) are the property of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), Kyoto University. CSEAS prohibits use of any materials for secondary use without prior consent (replication, reprint, alteration, public dissemination and translation).


CSEAS ensures that content on this site is accurate, but assumes no responsibility for authenticity of said content. SEAS is not responsible for any damage that may be caused as a result of the use of this site. For various reasons, such as maintenance and testing, CSEAS may change or delete the information from the site, or may suspend or terminate operation of the site without prior notice. CSEAS is not responsible for any inconvenience that may be caused by changes or deletion of information and direct links. Content Use

Where content on this site is used for the purpose of research, and in cases where said content is presented as part of research, users are requested to acknowledge CSEAS’ copyright. Users are required to adhere to standard referencing practices.


In principle, all content is free to use. Users are free to create direct links as they see fit without contacting CSEAS without prior notification. However, where links are found to be for purposes that are not in accordance with the law, users may be required to delete links.

Privacy Policy

This site may collect private information for events and future contact purposes, in addition to internal site monitoring and traffic analysis. In accordance with the law, any information collected will not be used beyond the purpose for which it is collected.
